FREEWARE AVAILABLE

Check for a PDF “reader” on your computer by attempting to open a PDF file. If the file can be opened, your computer has a PDF reader. If the file won’t open, download and install (as freeware) a copy of Adobe PDF Reader at: https://get2.adobe.com/reader/

To create your own PDFs for use as a media source in databases and for email attachments, download and install one of the following:

1. Cute PDF Writer found at http://www.cutepdf.com/
2. Primo PDF found by CLICKING HERE
3. PDF Creator found CLICKING HERE
4. Other versions can be identified by Googling “freeware +pdf”

FREEWARE GENEALOGY DATABASES

Though no longer supported and maintained by the LDS, the program known as PAF (Personal Ancestral File) is a very sophisticated database with a steep learning curve. Copies of the executable file of the last version made available to the general public can be obtained from the LSCGG. All you need is a flash drive on which a copy can be burned and transferred to your own computer.

My Heritage Family Tree can be downloaded and then installed by you on your own computer. CLICK HERE This freeware is much easier to learn than PAF but not nearly as flexible and complete as PAF.
